+1, this would be very nice. I'd be happy to help shepherd it in.

I believe we would need to get a CLA from Theo or OmniIT (don't think it 
would be a problem if we asked nicely :P)

At the very least, they would need to submit it as a .patch to this 
list, saying that we can use it.
