Hi Bo,

This looks nice, but maybe it's a bad solution with popup? Since the users
could easily block, an it's a lot of different possibilities for the block up
setting in security centers e.g. Norton. Would it be better with just a new
window/tab?

A non related question, how is the support for use of smart cards in the
OpenSign applet, in a Linux environment? As far as I can see it works fine thru
the CAPI in windows. I use Net ID CSP from netmaker to read the Smart Card on
windows, this works on Linux as well but I can't see there is a interface to
OpenSign here that I can use.. What about the NSS PCKS#11 Module in Firefox or
the use of sun pkcs#11 provider.

Tommy

Emne: [Developer] PDF attachment viewer

Hi,

I have been working with SEB Pension in Denmark implementing an
enhancement to the OpenSign applet. SEB' requirement was to implement
PDF attachment viewing capability to opensign.

The design fell on using the browser as a viewer, where only the
installed browser plugins would limit the viewing capability.

A quick solution outline:

OpenSign handles signing, as usual. When viewing an PDF attachment, a
browser window is launched which connects back to the opensign applet.
Applet sends the PDF attachment with the proper mime-type to the
browser, which then will show the attachment.

The URL is generated dynamically and random, making it difficult to
guess and hijack for users working on the same machine.

I have setup a temporary demo on
http://private.bofriis.dk:8080/logon/opensign.html

Comments and feedback are welcome.

Note that this enhancement also works with other types of Office
document types.

Best regards,
Bo Friis
