I think it depends on the situation. Having taught in very poor schools, there was often only one book which was often checked out when the students needed it. I personally own about 4000 books. But I believe that education has been transformed by the amount of information available at one 's finger tips. There are people who don't have books at home, at school, or in their communities.There are people who have never owned a book, and I have been in school , on a Fulbright in a university , where the knowledge was only in a teacher's head and notes. We have to think globally.
