Garey Barrell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Peter -If it's that way on ALL bands, the dial disc can be "disconnected" from the lead screw to allow it to be re-centered. If it's only off on one band, you could have a band crystal that has shifted.
If you look at the shaft of the large nylon gear on the front of the PTO gearbox, the hole it goes through is elongated, and the shaft is pulled toward the PTO leadscrew by a spring. If you hold the dial disc with your fingers and push "out" on that shaft, the gear will be disengaged and allow you to position the disc correctly. Release the shaft and the gear will re-engage. Get it close, and then the disc CAN be slipped on the shaft by holding the edge of the disc with your fingers and turning the main tuning knob. It's VERY hard to move, especially when it hasn't been moved for 30 or so years, but it will slip enough to get it exactly centered.

Peter Holtham <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang---------------------------------------------------------------------- GuysMy R4B has run out of calibration adjustment. The red slider to the right of the dial is hard over to the right, hence the line on the dial window is hard over as well.Is it possible to line things up in the middle again easily? Is there some sort of friction clutch in the dial mechanism? I tried moving the dial plate without any success, but didn't try to hard in case I messed things up.Thanks Peter, VK4COZ
