Crystals can fail at any time, gradually or suddenly.? Shipping shock, temperature, etc. can take a toll after so many years.? Not a frequent problem, but not completely rare either.? But just wait until the current high end radios experience end of life cycle failures and people find out that the software is no longer supported or available, the hybrid and custom chips are unavailable, the LCDs for the displays don't exist, and so forth.? I found I had no 80 meters. In the end, I wound up swapping 80 meter crystals with my R-4A and now it works. But, of course, no 80 on the R-4A. Is this a problem with the crystal? Is it a common thing? Can I get it to work again or do I need to order another one?
