[Drakelist] T-4X Mic Jack

Good Morning All,

I just finished reading about the whys & wherefores of Drake's decision to use 
a slightly smaller phone jack as the mic terminal in their T-4 series of 
transmitters...

I had no idea of this until I tried plugging a "regular" 1/4" mic plug into the 
jack. 

Looking in behind the front of the chassis, I decided that I could safely bore 
out the opening of the jack to a more user-friendly (i.e. common) 1/4" barrel, 
and I proceeded to do just that utilizing the "B.F.A.I" concept (a.k.a. "Brute 
Force And Ignorance", Hi Hi).

I proceeded slowly, and surely enough, it ended successfully.

Now I just have to be careful as to which plug I insert into which jack, as 
VE3EFJ warns...

I wonder if anyone else reading this has done the very same thing, but for 
reasons unknown, will not "...go public" with a pronouncement...?!
