Do you recall the grand old days of movie serials when they had mics plugged into the headphone jacks of SX-42s and similar receivers. They could work MARS (the planet) anytime they wanted with no QRM, QSB or TVI! They could even work mobile rigs in cars that only had a microphone and 96" whip, but no control head or radio in sight. Sometimes, they forgot to use an antenna. Must have been one of those early mobiles where the antenna was under the running board. I'll bet they got reports of dirty signals!
