To the List;

I just completed the AC4R upgrade. The results were excellent. The board
installed with little effort.

I began this project due to my AC4 getting some age on it, and I had noticed a
drop in output from my TR4C on 40m down to around 150-160w. My AC4 was
purchased new by me at Dayton back in 79, so it was of the last produced, so I
suggest anyone using the 4 line rigs to seriously consider this upgrade.

My TR4C output is now back to 200w on 75 and 40, 180 on 20 and 160 on 15, which
I think is typical of this unit with good finals. While it may be wishfull
thinking,....I think the radio sounds better as well. !!?

The only comments I would make regarding the instructions are to cut each white
wire to the bias pot individually to the shortest length possible. Otherwise,
like me you'll be searching for some wire for the last connection from the new
board to the pot. Also, on my supply, the can capacitor had a very large glob
of solder on the ground which caused extra effort getting it out of there. If
anyone has the same situation, you will need a hotter than normal iron or
desoldering tool. I only have irons in the 20-30 watt range for most
electronic work, and are inadequate to heat this solder. I was able to get it
loose using two irons.

73's,
David
