True, and anyone is free to start slicing and dicing their own
hardware in the privacy of their own homes and offices (goodness
knows I have countless times.)

However the guys at MCE did a lot of work and testing, and had a lot
of support (including from myself & many on this list) during the
process of coming up with their activation service.

I have nothing but pleasant and professional dealings with them for
as long as I have owned my 2400c(s). I bought my Interware upgrade,
RAM, and several hard drives from them. MCE has contributed a lot to
the community that surrounds the 2400c, and I'm more than happy to
support them in-kind. I know what it is like to run a small business,
and I know how important it is to understand the communities that are
your customers and clients.

"Calvin's" request, especially the way it was worded, struck me as
very unprofessional, not to mention in poor taste. It is one thing to
do the work yourself (as MCE did) it is another to openly state that
you plan on reverse-engineer (or just plain rip-off in this case)
their work.

I have 2 2400c's... one cardbus activated by MCE, and one not. But
it'll be a cold day in hell before I'd hand over any look at them
based on that sort of request.
