***** SPECIAL NOTE FROM EDITOR (Just A Reminder/Update): "Things seem to
be back to normal. I was experiencing some E-mail problems over the
last few weeks, especially with <kb...@arrl.net> address. The
<arrl.net> address has been very erratic (bounces and delays), so
only use as a last resort. I have added a new E-mail address
<kb...@hotmail.com> to be used before the <arrl.net> address, if
the <kb...@barf80.nshore.org> address does not work. I hope this
will help the problem of mail getting to me.... 73 de Tedd KB8NW"

RTTY CONTEST. Just a reminder that the CQWW DX RTTY Contest is this
coming weekend (September 28-29th). Complete details on the rules can
be found at: http://www.cqwwrtty.com/rules.htm
Important notice: All entries must be sent WITHIN FIVE (5) DAYS after
the end of the contest: no later than 2359 UTC October 4, 2013.

S7, SEYCHELLES. Andrea, IZ1MHY, will be active as S79MHY from Praslin
Island (AF-024) between October 7-17th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters.
His radio is a Yaesu FT857 into a multi-band vertical, dipoles for
10/15/20m and half-wave sloper for 160m. QSL via his home callsign,
direct, by the Bureau or LoTW.

SILENT KEYS.........
5Z4FM - Allan, G0IAS, reports that Jim Stewart, 5Z4FM, from Nairobi,
became a Silent Key (SK) on September 16th. Jim was probably
the most active of the 5Z's and will be missed on the bands.
His XYL is Anne, 5Z4FM. Ted, 5Z4NU, tells Allan, G0IAS, there
will soon be very few operators from 5Z... it doesn't look as
if there are enough operators for anybody now to get the "BIG
           FIVE AWARD".....

5B8AD - Harry, RA3AUU/P33W, informed the contesting community on
           September 17th, that Alex Saveliev, 5B8AD (aka C4N, RA6LUX),
became a Silent Key after a heart attack. He was just 45.

OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to
the family and friends of the above mentioned......

TC90, TURKEY (Special Event). The members of the TCSWAT (Special Wire-
less Activity Team) have been active with the special event TC suffix
callsigns for some years now to celebrate the anniversary of Republic
of Turkey. In 2013, Turkey will celebrate their 90th anniversary, and
between October 14-31st, the TCSWAT group will be active once more on
the air as TC90TC. More details will be available on QRZ.com in the
coming days. Activity will be on all HF bands and all modes. Plans are
ongoing for a Multi-Multi entry at CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th).
QSL via TA1HZ. Please be aware that QSL cards will be printed in 2014,
so DO NOT hurry to send direct requests. TCSWAT sends QSL cards 100%
via the Bureaus every year.

TF, ICELAND. Members of the Icelandic radio amateurs called "Radíó Refir"
(English: Radio Foxes) will be using their new contest callsign TF2R
(ex-TF2RR) for the first time during the CQWW DX RTTY Contest (September
28-29th) from the QTH of TF2LL <http://www.qrz.com/db/tf2ll> as a Multi-
Single entry. Operators will be the majority of Icelandic RTTYers. For
more information see QRZ.com.

TI8, COSTA RICA. Operators Carlos/TI2KAC, Juan/TI3JCY, Mauricio/TI4ZM,
Eddie/K4UN, Bob/W4BW, Keith/W4KTR and Lex/W4XO will be active as TI8M
from Costa De Pajaros during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th)
as a Multi-2 entry. The group will be active before and during the contest
on 160-10 meters. QSL via TI2KAC, direct or by the Bureau.

TX5, AUSTRAL ISLAND. Operators Dave/K3EL and Don/VE7DS will be active as
TX5RV Raivavae Island (OC-114) between October 30th and November 6th.
Activity will be on 80-10 meters using mostly CW, maybe some SSB and
RTTY. The Austral Islands are currently 44th on the ClubLog "most wanted"
list, very high for a fly-in destination, with a particularly low per-
centage of ClubLog users having contacts on 10 or 12 meters. Suggested
frequencies are:
  CW - 3531, 7031, 10119, 14031, 18081, 21031, 24914 and 28031 kHz
  SSB - 7065/7165, 14220, 18115, 21315, 24970 and 28475 kHz
  RTTY - 7037, 10144, 14082, 18102, 21090, 24927 and 28090 kHz

This is not intended to be a full-on DXpedition (they are travelling
with their XYLs, hence they’ll be spending some time away from the radios),
but there will be significant on-the-air time for approximately one week,
running two medium-power stations with vertical antennas on the beach.
QSL via M0URX (OQRS preferred). Logs will be uploaded to LoTW quickly
after their return. The OQRS will be available for direct and bureau
card requests, and direct requests can also be sent by snail-mail. Full
information on QSLing via M0URX is available at Tim's Web site at:
                            http://www.m0urx.com

his OQRS on his Web page <http://www.vk6ir.com>.

VK9M, MELLISH REEF (Press Release #1). Members of the "The Perseverance
