Hmm.  I thought you could make a loan (and charge interest) without
fractional reserve.  But I guess this doesn't make sense, because both
the gold and the debt-promise should be spendable.  This means money
is created from the debt-promise which is not backed by gold.  Or
maybe the debt-promise should be evaluated as a risk in its own
category, and nobody should confuse it with money.  Hmm.
