Dear all, Please disperse this message as widely as possible, thanksThe SCOR (Scientific Committee for Oceanographic Research) working group for "The Climatic Importance of the Greater Agulhas Current" is holding a workshop in collaboration with the DBCP (Data Buoy Cooperation Panel) which will focus""Towards an Observing System for the Greater Agulhas System: Building links and capacity for East African participation". The workshop will have components of observation, modelling and analysis skills, as well as discussions around current research and future work, with a session towards forming collaborations and proposals. There will be representatives from a number of international Academic Institutes, NOAA, the ASCLME, WMO And IOC.
This will be an excellent opportunity to build capacity in observing and modelling, but also to network with leading regional and international scientists. We are particularly looking for participants who have projects or are planning projects in the SW Indian Ocean and coastal regions.
The meeting will be held in Grand Baie, Mauritius, 1-7th May 2011There is a limited amount of full and partial funding available from SCOR and IAPSO to cover regional scientists attending the meeting.
Please send a 2 page CV, an indication of funding required and a motivation as to why you would like to attend to jul...@saeon.ac.za by February 16th 2011.
Many thanks, Juliet
