well, that means people *do* use it, and my time wouldn't be wasted setting
up a Custom interface. ;-)

mmm... i never realised that.

ok. so what i'll do for the next version is this:

* eliminate the need for .ebibrc; ebib.el will contain defaults for the key
  bindings and entry type definitions.
* the user can add customisations to .ebibrc. (the advanced user will
  realise he can also put them in .emacs/init.el.)
* introduce defcustom.

to the latter point: what would need to be included into the M-x customize?

what comes to mind are the entry type definitions, and ebib-preload. key
bindings are not normally customised through M-x customize. anything else?

once you've done that, i'll continue to maintain the documentation in that
format.
