Yes. This one did the trick for me. fly...@mcbuntu2:/media$ ls -la flyboy total 28 drwxr-x--- 4 flyboy root 4096 Feb 22 09:18 . drwxr-xr-x 39 root root 4096 Feb 22 09:16 .. drwxr-x--- 2 root domain users 4096 Oct 5 13:58 floppy0 drwx------ 4 root root 16384 Dec 31 1969 usbdisk-sdb1 usbdisk-sdb1 shows owned by root, but as soon as the user try's to access it the permissions are properly set and everything works as expected. I vaguely remember that external media is unmounted after a short period of inactivity so that kids can pull there drives without have to mess about with un-mounting them "a la windows". Thanks for this fix. It's a big help! John -- edubuntu-users mailing list edubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/edubuntu-users
