Well, it seems that my ISP is now using SMTP authentication for outgoing
emails due to some spammer having taken over their servers and subverting them. I can
still GET mail from them, but can't send it OUT since they don't recognize me now.
Is there ANY setting in Emailer that will allow me set it up for SMTP
authentication? I never paid attention to any of these discussions on the list before
since it wasn't an issue for me, but now I'm in the same boat as others have been and
don't know what to do.
I'm using an alternate personality in my daughter's Eudora program now to send
this and am hoping that I can make it work to get it out to the list. I can still GET
email on Emailer, but not send OUT! Any observations or ideas anyone has would be
appreciate but it this doesn't get set up right it looks like I'm done with Emailer
and will have to go to Eudora.
I now have OS 9.1 on this iMac along with a nice fat 120 gigabyte hard drive
and 256K RAM so can run things I want, but am NOT going to go to OS 10+ on it just to
get to use Apple's new 'Mail' email program. What's a mother to do? - Charles
