Gentle persons: Continuing my review of the EMC2 man pages, this message covers editorial issues I found reviewing on http://www.linuxcnc.org/docs/2.5/ concerning the (English) "Realtime components and kernel modules" listed in index.html.
I read these pages midday (EST US that is) on 20120117. As in my last message, I list only the pages for which I have comments. --- bldc.9 (man/man9/bldc.9.html) bldc_hall3.9 (man/man9/bldc_hall3.9.html) We've commented on these pages in separate emails. --- classicladder.9 (man/man9/classicladder.9.html) In "SEE ALSO" the reference "see the integrator manual..." probably should state explicitly one or more of the Classicladder parts of the Integrator Manual. --- counter.9 (man/man9/counter.9.html) This component has been deprecated so this comment is probably headed to /dev/null but in "SEE ALSO" the reference "encoder(9). The HAL User Manual." probably should be just "encoder(9)" --- kins.9 (man/man9/kins.9.html) in "SEE ALSO" the reference to "....The Kinematics section of the EMC2 Developer Manual" should be directed to the Kinematics part of the Integrator Manual. All the "kins" derived man pages either simply reproduce the kins.9 page or have essentially the same "SEE ALSO" statement. gantrykins.9 (man/man9/gantrykins.9.html) genhexkins.9 (/man/man9/genhexkins.9.html) genserkins.9 (man/man9/genserkins.9.html) maxkins.9 (man/man9/maxkins.9.html) pumakins.9 (man/man9/pumakins.9.html) rotatekins.9 (man/man9/rotatekins.9.html) scarakins.9 (man/man9/scarakins.9.html) tripodkins.9 (man/man9/tripodkins.9.html) --- pcl720.9 (man/man9/pcl720.9.html) This is another 'orphan' driver in the sense that it is not mentioned in the main EMC2 documentation. --- pluto_servo.9 (man/man9/pluto_servo.9.html) pluto_step.9 (man/man9/pluto_step.9.html) I noted the issues with these pages in a previous message. --- stepgen.9 (man/man9.stepgen.9.html) In "SEE ALSO" the reference "The HAL User Manual" probably needs to be updated based on the new organization of the EMC2 docs. --- time.9 (man/man9/time.9.html) The formatting of the DESCRIPTION section is quite funky. --- toggle2nist.9 (man/man9/toggle2nist.9.html) Couldn't the description be reworded in a more straightforward manner? I scratch my head every time I try to read the current text. --- That's it for Realtime components and kernel modules.
