Jon:

This is the problem of legitimately (in the sense of that's the way the
Wiki works) broken links I noted yesterday in my message "Wiki editing".
I haven't seen any responses that suggest I and others shouldn't just
forge ahead to (re)construct the connections. It is the access through
the list of changes you mention which makes easy my proposed process of
copying old pages to new and then editing the new. A new, empty page
with a well-formed URL is created when one clicks on one of those pesky
"?" marks, ready to be copied into and edited.

At this point I think I'm going to apply brute force and ignorance by
replacing all instances of emc/emc2 on the pages I edit and not worry
about the past-future dichotomy.

This doesn't mean I like it. I still think we should declare explicitly
that there was a past which was EMC, a present defined by the date and
substance of the agreement between our Board and EMC Corporation, and
the future which is LinuxCNC. An easy example lies in Chris' message to
emc-users.where he says "...and versions of the software and
documentation starting with 2.5.0." We are not going to rebrand EMC2
2.4.7 or any of its predecessors, nor rewrite their documentation, so we
have to be able to refer to them as EMC2, even if we qualify every
reference with a disclaimer.

But that's just me. I'm not an attorney nor do I play one on TV. I'm not
a member of the Board nor even an active developer of LinuxCNC. My only
interest here is to see this collected work of dozens continue to thrive.

Regards,
Kent
