If anyone is interested in a larger capacity storage system for
digital images, a number of companies make such devices.
Nixvue (http://www.nixvue.com) and Delkin (http://www.delkin.com)
make very nice ones, but while well featured, they are somewhat
pricey. For not all that much more you could get an inexpensive
laptop that burns CD's and have a lot greater versatility.
I recently got a cheaper and simpler one called 'X's-Drive VP-2030'
which is sold in the US by Computer Geeks
(http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=VP-2030). The case, with
electronics, battery, charger, cable, etc. is $80US, and you put in
your own 2 1/2" HD. I put a 40GB drive in one and for a total of just
over $200US have a high capacity storage solution.
In Europe, http://www.xs-drive.com sells them with and without
drives, but there the price is the same in pounds as compgeeks sells
them for in $US.
In case anyone buys one of these and uses a Mac, drop me a line and
I'll tell you how to get it working. Instructions are minimal, and
support, while fast and courteous, is not knowledgeable.
Since I figured out how to set it up properly, it has worked like a
charm. At this time, this is probably the least expensive solution.
