Hi Jeff, Thanks too, from me for running this thing.
I'm a novice with regard to this. What does one need to do and what does it take to maintain a mailing list such as this? Jack W Reeve Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Foust [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2005 12:16 AM To: europa@klx.com Subject: Closure of the europa mailing list Hello, For the last several years I have been hosting this mailing list, which was originally intended to facilitate communications among those interested in the Europa Icepick mission concept. That effort has long since faded away, and the mailing list has been used primarily for sending press releases and sporadic discussions on topics usually not related to Europa or spacecraft missions to it. While I would be content to let the list linger on in this condition indefinitely under ideal conditions, the growing avalanche of junk email that this list attracts is putting a growing strain on the server that hosts not just the list, but several web sites and one large email distribution list as well. This makes it increasingly difficult to support the operation of this list. Therefore, I must sadly inform you that this list will be shut down in one week, on Saturday, March 5. At that time the list will no longer relay messages and the list of subscribers will be destroyed. Hopefully, this one-week period will give any interested parties the time needed to create and announce a new list to the group. Again, I regret having to make such a move, but the current state of Internet email traffic leaves me no other options.
