Hi, when moving huge amounts of data, e.g. two entire harddiscs to a new and larger one (which may happen weekly nowadays), I'd like to be safe and verify the copy went well before deleting the source.
One can think of numerous ways using batchfiles and md5sum or the like, but I'd like to stay within FC/W and watch the nice progress bar and ETA timer :) How do you guys do this? Could this be an enhancement suggestion for FC, like "secure move" which in fact would be "copy - checksum - delete"? In a related matter, I'd like to suggest that error messages could be completely disabled or better, delayed until after the copy operation is complete. You all may have seen this: you have initiated copying 200 GB in deeply nested directories and went away, only to learn later that FC has paused after 20 MB because of a "file not found due to weird characters in name" error. While we are at it: a "confirm everything" option would also be nice: The way it is now, when copying into an existing structure, we'll have to wait for the first of each "overwrite?" and "overwrite regardless of readonly attribute?" prompts (maybe there are more which I don't recall now). And in some cases you manually have to clear attributes in order not to receive an "access denied". It would be nice if FC could take care of that, too. As always, thanks, Brian, for a great and indispensable tool.
