That's what I almost thought ...

One could isolate such a part for editing though and paste it 
back later.

Has anyone attempted a highlight definition for JavaScript yet?

That would be quite nice, too. In the meantime, have a look at 
Alleycode -- www.alleycode.com, as in 'alley cat'  -- which is 
lean, slick and free, although in dreaded GUI mode. :)
