To the Wish List for FCW Version used: 2:20 - 10
Problem: Windows XP Pro SP2 BSOD Hi guys, I use FCW a lot whenever I can. However, I have to use Windows Explorer when I copy files from my Procaster digibox (TV set-top-box) with recording and hard drive to my external USB backup drive. For that purpose I use a laptop with WinXP and connect the digibox as an USB drive. Sometimes Windows Explorer stops copying files with the message: Error Copying File or Folder Cannot copy "filename": The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid. When I try again it hangs on an other file and so on until I'm ready. Somehow the Procaster digibox is fiddling with the files I'm currently backing up. Don't ask me for the reason, I find it weird as the files I'm copying were recorded month ago. I started using FCW and each time this file error happened I got the infamous BSOD. Copying could go well for 15-30 minutes, but sooner or later XP crashed. Somehow FCW is handling this type of file error differently than Windows Explorer. Is it possible to fix/work around? I still prefer to use FCW.
