Lately, I've had several problems crop up after things working fine! Working on a short film, going back and forth between 2 monitors at boyfriend's and my place at first was fine, then Finale kept crashing with 2 monitors. If I leave a window on the 2nd monitor and don't move it back to the first, it is impossible to access any windows that were left on the auxillary monitor.
Working on a full length film, Finale was fine till I was almost done with the project. Then if I didn't restart Finale every time I opened a different reel of the film, it would absolutely refuse to start playback anywhere other than at bar 1 otherwise the film and music would not sync. Very strange that it was fine for weeks and then suddenly quit working properly. I stopped using 2 monitors and restarted every time I started a new reel and could finally live with that. Now all of a sudden, when I finish an arrangement that I previously used the generated parts for ww, brass and rhythm, I made a copy of the file then laid out the string parts. I didn't want to generate parts in the original file and lose my layout for the parts other than strings. In 4 of the 26 songs, music is copied at the end of the file and wipes out part of the arrangement. Mostly, the music copied at the end of the file and just obliterated the last bar. The last one, the edited vocal line jumped to the end of the file and lost all lyrics and chords. At first I thought I accidentally copied but now that it has happened on 4 files, that is not the case. And another file had bars that were suddenly deleted and/or moved around. Very strange!!! The only solution Finale tech had for the 2 monitor problems was to delete preferences. For the synching of the movie, the only solution I got was to reload the program. I've been in the midst of projects and have tried to avoid doing that but maybe I'll have to do so now. I'd like to finish this project before reloading. I stopped using 2 monitors and really miss that since I've always used 2 monitors with my desktop Mac. I miss the screen real estate. My laptop is 1 year old and my desktop is 7-1/2 years old so lately I'm now doing all on my laptop and will probably not replace my desktop Mac. I love being able to carry my laptop with my everywhere! It's convenient having all the files with me at the studio.
