I'd classify this issue as a problem with the wxgtk2.8 package. We normally _don't_ link to system-provided libraries if there's a Fink package for them, for this very reason--Fink's libraries can be kept in sync across OS versions. We've no way to see what's going on with your svn without actually seeing some output.
