That wasn't a problem for Interbase because we used a source control system 
that was also based on the database.  We found that having developers who were 
also database users made them a great deal more sympathetic with customers.  We 
also used the database as this basis for the test system (tcs and tan) and a 
corporate email system.  So if the database had a serious problem, everyone in 
the company suffered, which was a feature, not a bug.
