I am posting this since this information would have been useful to me if it was available. Perhaps it will be of use to someone else on the list, and I can save them the time I spent to figure it out.
I just got Windows 7 64 bit home premium working with Flex 5K, dual RXs here on a Gateway SX2800-01r ($450 list), Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200, dual display out. The motherboard VIA firewire was useless with the F5K. It comes with a telephone modem in a PCIe x1 slot that I pulled and installed a Best Buy Dynex DX-PCI2PF firewire host card in its place. I was able to configure system so that the Dynex host has a dedicated IRQ. Worst case latency is 395 usec so far. I haven't heard or seen any glitches yet. The SX2800 case is a mini-case. I am not sure if standard or not. The Dynex host card bracket was not usable and I had to steal the bracket from the modem card and modify it to have a bracket for the Dynex host card. Below are my notes on modifications. Gateway SX2800-01r configuration changes. I disabled motherboard VIA IEEE 1394 Bus host controller in Windows 7 device manager and BIOS. The Via host did work with my DVC camcorder. I was able to load an AVI file from tape. It is not usable with the Flex-Radio 5000. I disabled and uninstalled Anatel telephone modem in the device manager. The Anatel modem was supplied with the SX2800-01r. I removed the Antel modem form the PCIe x1 slot and replaced it with the Dynex DX-PCI2PF 2-port FireWire 800 & 1 port 400 PCIe Adapter. Chipset: LSI FW643 Note that bracket that came with Dynex card is not usable with the SX2800-01r case. That bracket had to be removed. LSI 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller Driver Version 6.1.7600.1638. I disabled Intel ICH10 Family PCI Express Root Port 1 - 3A3A since it shared IRQ 0x11 with new LSI 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller. This is the currently unused PCIe x16 slot. IRQ 0x11 is then only used by the Dynex host controller. Flex-Radio Systems driver 3.4.2.6300. Flex-5000 Firmware 1.3.0.8 Sample Rate: 192000 Buffer Size: 2048. PowerSDR 1.18.3 Both RX1 and RX2 on. Peak CPU usuage about 15%. 395 usec maximum latency occasionally when just running PowerSDR. 73, Bill Bordy NJ1H _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
