I have been on AM for the last 30 years, and the flex 5000 is the best thing 
you can get for receive, and it seems to do real well on tx, but at low 
power (25 watts).
Even so, I made a lot of contacts on AM at 25 watts before building the 
amplifier.

You cant go wrong with the 5000a, its loads of fun.
