Windows 7 does not output on 48KHz sample by defaults, it outputs 
audio at 44.1KHz. This sometimes causes problems when a piece of 
software is trying to output 48KHz audio such as locking up or distortion.

Make sure that Window 7 by default outputs at 48KHz by;

Go to "Sounds" at the control panel
Select the "Playback" tab
Click on your output device to highlight it
Click on the "Properties" Button
Select "Advanced" tab
Select 48KHz 24 bits
Click "Apply"
Click "OK"
