In my experience, vibrant open source communities rarely spring into existence 
on their own. Creating and nourishing such a community requires a significant 
effort. One or two self-motivated developers is a good start, but if you want 
something that is long-term sustainable, you'll need to organize and recruit 
accordingly.

My SDR-1500 is mothballed, I'm now a 6500 user, and my open source management 
cycles are already consumed by LoTW/TQSL. Advice will be the limit of my 
contribution to this effort.
