Cliff Morris: I'm wondering why the stickum plumbers use in household work
wouldn't suffice with PVC in boatbuilding.

Ralph Hoehn: Mike Edelman explains the problem of brittleness. I have used
plumbers PVC glue successfully on elatively short patches which are not
normally (but sometimes :-) subject to 180 degree folding. I was careful to
use liberal amounts of solvent and very little of the cement and have had no
problems with it. At the time I was concenred about brittleness of the patch
and attempted to achieve a chemical "weld" rather than a true glue job ... I
HATE glue!!
