Lew Crenshaw: I have a pre-"seal skin technology" Feathercraft that, if I recall correctly, has EDPM rubstrips at the stem-keelson junction of the boat. I got the boat from a paddling shop as a year old demo that spent most of its life in display. By the time I got the boat, the EDPM appeared to already have dry-rotten and cracked. It looks pretty bad. The hypalon is in great shape, though. Ralph Hoehn: There was an interesting comment today on the forum at faltboot.de reminding readers that rub strips are sacrificial elements (abrading away instead of the skin itself) and should therefore be relatively easily replaceable if they were called upon too forcefully to do their intended job. How were the EPDM strips attached to the Hypalon hull? Can you take them off easily?
