+1, and obviously it beats mailing lists too. ;-)

* NNTP was built for group discussions
* NNTP allows the end-user to decide the application and user interface to
   read NNTP discussions (plus tons of other reader based features)
* NNTP doesn't require an email address (some free email services inject
   advertising, limits the ability of plain text communications, can't do
   threaded conversions etc.)
* NNTP can do things like canceling messages (posted in error)
* NNTP is fast - it just rocks!  :)
