Hi everyone, For those that aren't aware, Kaa is an umbrella project for a series of modules that provide various functionality to both Freevo 1 and Freevo 2.
Up until now, both Kaa and Freevo were using a subversion (svn) server maintained by yours truly on freevo.org, our hosted server supported by many of you (and thanks for that). Given many benefits provided by Git, and GitHub (github.com) in particular, we've decided to move Kaa development to GitHub (https://github.com/freevo). Although it will continue to be accessible until 2013, no further check-ins will be made to the Kaa repository. For the time being, Freevo will continue to use svn while we test the waters with GitHub. *If you're a user* and are currently using Freevo and Kaa from svn, you'll need to clone the Kaa modules needed for Freevo from git, instead of svn. The wiki has been updated: Freevo 1: http://doc.freevo.org/SourceSVNInstallation Freevo 2 (still alpha quality, so beware): http://doc.freevo.org/2.0/Installation * *Bugs or feature requests for any Kaa module can be submitted now at GitHub.* If you're a developer*, you're welcome to fork any of the kaa repos and submit pull requests. Those following the freevo-cvslog may already have noticed the transition to git. Anyone currently subscribing to RSS feeds from http://svn.freevo.org should update your feed to the GitHub (either by watching the repositories you're interested in and subscribing to your personal news feed, or by subscribing directly to the repo's rss feed). As an aside, as kaa.base nears 1.0, if you're in the market for an application framework (a bit like Twisted) for your next Python project, please consider kaa.base as I think it's turning into a very nice API. Take a look at http://api.freevo.org/kaa-base/ If things go nicely over the next month or so, I expect we will transition Freevo to GitHub as well, which includes migration from SourceForge's Issue Tracker to GitHub Issues for managing Freevo issues (given the very nice integration GitHub issues has with the hosted repositories). We may also migrate the wiki as well, although that probably warrants some discussion on freevo-devel. Do let me know if you have any questions, comments, or run into any problems with the transition. Thanks! Jason
