This is my /etc/inetd.conf entry ftp stream tcp nowait root /opt/sfw/bin/tcpd /usr/local/sbin/ftp.proxy -d -l -m -b app02 and this is what I see from my ftp client bash-2.03# ftp www Connected to ecostech.com.
