Hi Juergen,
Did you create any config file for ftp.proxy?
Can you send a sample if you have one?
Thanks so much,
Magda

Hi,
How can I create my.outside.server? Where should I keep this file?
How can I create some config files with the list of the allowed servers?
Where can I list all allowed IPs?
How to start to configure ftp.proxy?
ftp stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/sbin/tcpd
/usr/local/sbin/ftp.proxy my.outside.server
*** We need to plug in two different addresses into ftp.proxy and the
addresses need to listen to the different ports. Is this possible?
Any help or hints?
Regards,
Magda

Hi,
I just wonder how can I create a config file for ftp.proxy?
for example I start with the as my 'hello world':
./ftp.proxy -a PROXY_CLIENT=192.168.xxx.xx, PROXY_CLIENTNAME=mhewryk
Where the information is stored? There is no output file?
I need to create 250 users and IPs. How can I manage them after the setup
is done.
How can I start setting up FTP.PROXY?
Any hint?
I can see the log:
ug 11 13:58:33 hostname01 ftp.proxy[10259]: can't set TCP_NODELAY, error=
Socket operation on non-socket
Aug 11 13:58:33 hostname01 ftp.proxy[10259]: -ERR: can't get client info:

Hello,
How can I create my.outside.server? Where should I keep this file?
How can I create some config files with the list of the allowed servers?
Where can I list all allowed IPs?
How to start configure ftp.proxy within /etc/xinetd.d? How the file should
be named?
ftp stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/sbin/tcpd
/usr/local/sbin/ftp.proxy my.outside.server
We need to plug in to different addresses into ftp.proxy and they both need
to listen to the different ports. Is this possible?
Regards,
Magda

In terms of security, ftp.proxy seems to be pretty decent. The I/O is
somewhat isolated, so things like buffer overflows should come up much less
frequently than some other software I've looked into. In practice, I've been
running ftp.proxy as an outbound-only proxy at my company (40,000+ employees)
for over a year with no incidents.
The consensus among the group seems to be to use the 1.1.6 beta. It's fairly
stable code (it is, as you observed, a slow-moving project). Mostly bugfixes
in the beta, not a lot of new functionality.
The list may not be "active", but certainly not dead. "Slow-moving" maybe.
Fits the project. :-)
