Hello,

How can I tune ftp.proxy to accept request from all IPs and re-direct them
to the destination server for e.g. 192.168.22.222 server?

What is the syntax?

Regards,
Magda

Hi,

I just wonder if somebody can send me just a quick note what command the
user has to type on the "source" machine to ftp stuff over to "destination"
machine through  the ftp.proxy server?

                                         192.168.22..222
192.168.22.23
source server                ---> ftp.proxy server --->
destination server
>ftp 192.168.22.222   -----> how to tell ftp.proxy
>login ???? to forward to destination
>put   abc.doc                    server?

At this point I don't care of any filtering. I'd like any user who ftp
stuff to ftp.proxy to be re-directed to destination server.

Any hint?
Regards,
Magda

Hi

RE: How to configure ftp.proxy to set the FTP server the client wants to
contact.

I know I create a lot of noise in this discussion group lately but I just
wonder how I can connect from the source (e.g. consdev) to destination (e.g.
10.200.888.88) as ftptest without entering "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

I'd like to tell ftp.proxy to redirect all users to 10.200.888.88
automatically.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] mhewryk]$ ftp 10.200.999.99

I believe all you have to is specify the remote ftp server
(10.200.888.88 in your case) on the ftpproxy command line from whatever
you are running it from (inetd/xinetd I presume). Thus the command looks
like:-

ftpproxy 10.200.888.88

If you are using xinetd, add a line in the config file that says:-

server_args = 10.200.888.88

mode?

server_args = 10.200.888.88  -m               ?????

Thanks a lot Damian!

It -m IP works for me, thanks!

Actually I have one physical and one logical interface on the ftpproxy
server.
I need the eth0 to listen on port 21 for "a standard ftp" and eth0:0 on port
21 to listen as a ftpproxy.
How can I modify /etc/xinetd.d/ftpproxy file to accomomplish that? Any
hints?

This is my current ftpproxy file which listen on port 21 for eth0 and
eth0:0
service ftpproxy

Hi,
I've tuned the ftpproxy file with the "only_from" option to allow ftpproxy
to listen on the specific IP:port. It works fine for me.

The next question is about sftp...
Some clients are coming to ftpproxy server using sftp so, by default they
coming to the port 22.
Is this a way I can pass this request to the destination server? How I can
tune up ftpproxy to listen for the same IP on both ports, 21 and 22?

Thanks,
Magda

well...
ftp.proxy speaks ftp whereas a sftp client or server speaks ssh, it's not a
matter of port number, it's a matter of protocol: it won't work.
