and a firewall on redhat linux i am allowing outgoing conenctions to port 20 
and 21. Now i have insatlled ftp proxy so that my lan users can also download 
files. but it is not working. Could any one please explain as to how to get 
this working</P>

Well, what did you do after installing it to configure and start it? And what do
you want ftp.proxy to do?

In fact if you only want to enable your users to download files (not upload and
other full-featured ftp), you don't need ftp.proxy, since squid is quite able of
that.
If you really need ftp.proxy, is it for allowing any user to connect to any ftp
server on the Internet? Is it for allowing some users to connect to only one
remote ftp server? etc.
