Hi,
I guess it doesn't matter what did he mean about A and B clients.
It's his own business if he needs that.
I would suggest running 2 instances (or 2 different ports from inetd)
with different config files and port numbers. You'll have to divide
users into the groups using firewall rules if you are using
transparent proxying.
Have a nice day

Hi,
Clients "A" will be given a different IP (the physical one).
Clients "B" will ftp to the proxy server by the virtual IP. They will be
given the different IP.
Actually I have > 300 "A" clients and only one "B" client.
I was thinking that the "B" client can ftp to the proxy server on the same
interface and as an "A" Client and can provide the destination IP when
filling in the userID information: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The solution doesn't work becasue the ftpproxy file in xinetd.d has the
default server_args setup to redirect all requests to th NT_FTP_Server. I
have to keep this setting for the three hundreds "A" Clients.
Plan II:
I tried to set two binds and two server_arrg in the ../xinetd.d/ftpprxy
file but it is not working. I guess I can have only one bind and one
server_arg variable set in the startup script.
Any hints?
Regards,
Magda

How can I split ../xinetd.d/ftpproxy file to differ two clients coming
through two different ports?
In other words how to kick off two different instances?

Hi,
1. Add an entry to the /etc/services file with a different port
number, for example:
ftpproxy1 21212/tcp
2. Copy ../xinetd.d/ftpproxy to ../xinetd.d/ftpproxy1 and edit it:
give the parameters to use different config file etc.
3. Restart xinetd (killall -HUP)
4. Now you should have another instance on a different port (21212 in
this case)
Have a nice day

Hello,
yes, working with a second interface or port is an option but with the
latest version of ftp.proxy there is also another option with connection
translation program.
First you need to configure ftp.proxy to run with a connection translation
program (ctp):
ftp.proxy -x /path/to/ctp ...other-options...
where /path/to/ctp is a script like:
#!/usr/bin/awk -f
#
BEGIN {
DEFAULT_SERVER = "1.2.3.4";
SPECIAL_SERVER = "1.2.3.5";
SPECIAL_CLIENT = "1.1.2.3";
if (PROXY_CLIENT == SPECIAL_CLIENT)
printf ("SERVER %s\n", SPECIAL_SERVER);
else
printf ("SERVER %s\n", DEFAULT_SERVER);
exit (0);
}
This ctp will then check each client against it's IP-number and set the FTP
server as desired, the special "B" client gets connected to the "B" server.
Regards
Wolfgang Zekoll
