Julie,
Oh, he's totally healthy except that he's
only interested in crickets lately (he used to be on mealworms).
Geckos often get bored with just one food item. Variety is best to keep
them interested. You can also try superworms and waxworms (famous gecko
crack) on occasion. Another thing folks run into with leopards is
sexual maturity and a normal drop in food consumption that occurs
between one and two years when most of their growing is done.
But he hasn't seen a vet since I've had him
(possibly ever) and I'd just like to make sure there's nothing going on
that I'd miss. I'm definitely an overprotective gecko mom.
LOL! I'd say you fit in pretty well here! ;)
It's also nice to know that if he does have
a health issue down the road I'll have someone that I'm comfortable
with to take him to.
Absolutely!
I'm also going to add a couple of females
to the family in a month or so, and I want to make sure I have a
healthy environment for them to come to (not that they'll go right in
with him at first anyway).
Good deal!
Thanks for the ARAV link, it looks like I
have lots of choices.
You are welcome. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns
about your gex.

Hi Jessica,
What is the health issue if you don't mind sharing? We all learn here
by sharing this kind of stuff and the solutions we come up with to
resolve health issues. I am not familiar with vets in that area, I
usually refer folks to the ARAV (Association of Reptilian and Amphibian
Veterinarians )website to select a non-domestic vet in their area.

Best of luck!

Could someone point me in the direction of a
list of herp vets that have been recommended or at least commented on
by lizard keepers? I need to find a vet to a routine checkup for my
leo, and I'd rather not just open the yellow pages, close my eyes, and
point. Or perhaps the Maryland/DC suburb folks could pass on some
names?
