[gentoo-alt] [prefix] coreutils problem on sparc-sun-solaris2.9

Okay, so things are progressing along pretty nicely, and I have 
encountered my first build problem:

it appears the cygwin guys have already encountered this one:

if you follow that thread, they have some patches, but I haven't looked 
into it closely enough to tell if it would be relevant to my case.
