Oh no worries. I was thinking along the lines that an old entry was in
there without the "user" option, thereby requiring root to mount.

I've checked a handful of packages and I seem to be running the same
versions on my Surface with the very recent kernel. So I'm not sure what
could be the problem. I just tried again and both microsd and USB stick
mounts through Dolphin or the removeable media applet.
