Yeah, I'm out of my depth. Just moments ago, there was a post to the portage list about LLVM and --with-bdeps: https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage-dev/message/f1dfb5c37e6c3db1c2f22c137a4b15af Some combination of the portage/llvm teams might know what's going on.
