In addition to other troubles, my X server won't start under any circumstances that I've been able to construct.
My actual video is on the motherboard and is an ATI Rage XL chipset (I think that uses the drvier r128?) My current worry is that "startx" fails quickly, reporting no screens found. My guess is the missing extensions reported in the following typescript. The files named there are broken symbolic links to /usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/extensions/<whatever> but that directory is empty. If I change the driver to "fbdev", it fails and reports that /dev/fb0 does not exist. I don't understand frambuffers, so I don't know what to make of that. It sure seems this system is missing a bunch of pieces.
