On April 27th, at 2pm, National Geographic is using a version of the Environmental Performance Index to take a "pulse" of how countries are performing in regards to their environmental stewardship of the planet. The EPI team acknowledges the widespread debate around the EPI, its aggregate ranking of countries, and its relative weightings. In response, we have developed a new feature on our website to "make your own weighting" based on the indicators of our 2008 EPI. This tool is part of an effort to move towards a more open data-driven approach to environmentalal decisionmaking Thus, we welcome any comments on how we can better provide quantitative tools to environmental policymakers. There is an open comments feature on each graphic interface of epi.yale.edu that we welcome the members of gep-ed to utilize. We welcome your opinions and comments to improve the state of global data monitoring and analysis. http://epi.yale.edu<http://epi.yale.edu/> Best regards, Christine Christine H. Promises to be very interesting, particularly because it traces many of the indirect and overlooked impacts--on land as well as in the ocean.
