Goa’s capital city Panaji that includes our Ribandar is in a despicable state, because of the insensitivity of those at the helm. The residents over the last few years have had to grapple and endure with potholed roads and inhale never ending dust. Many including a son of a former Ribandar Councillor died in those Smart City trenches that were recklessly dug all over.
Now the March 11th elections of the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) will be an opportunity for the voters of Panaji to elect worthy Councillors to get the city out of the current mess. Enough being Enough, now Panaji needs to regain its past glory. It is incumbent that the City of Panaji elect knowledgeable Councillors who can think and share their views and ideas at CCP meetings thus contributing to the overall betterment of the world’s smallest Municipal Corporation. With dumb Councillors, the authorities conveniently choose to be deaf. For the all-round development and upliftment of the City, it is imperative that we elect honest, competent, dynamic and independent minded Councillors having a vision and who would be focused on uplifting their wards and provide services to benefit the people, without being Puppets of their political bosses. On March 11th, the best and only option for the people of Panaji will be to rally behind ‘Ami Panjekar’ led by Utpal Parrikar to restore order in our once beautiful City. However in Ward No 4, the outstanding Independent candidate Agnelo Silveira would be the best choice as he was a very successful Councillor in 1995 and was elected unopposed for his second term.
