Original Cataloger The Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary seeks an experienced librarian to serve as Original Cataloger on a three-year funded cataloging project. This position reports to the Administrative Librarian for Technical Services.
Duties and responsibilities: This is a full-time position working in the Technical Services Department of the Library. Responsibilities include original cataloging and classification of monographs primarily in Hebrew, including rare-books, as well as books in Latin characters. Supervision of one copy cataloger and two para-professionals for cataloging project. Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS is required; second advanced degree in related subject area desired. Proficiency in AACR2, LCSH, MARC and RLIN; experience with ExLibris ALEPH500 preferred. Knowledge of Hebrew; working knowledge of Yiddish and other European languages desired. Supervisory experience, with the ability to work in a team environment and to communicate orally and in writing.
