How does the Even-Shoshan editor(s) decide to change vocalizations?
It used to be that "educated people" would say "mahazor," and the pronunciation
"mahzor" was looked down upon.
Is the explanation that Even-Shoshan is "descriptive" rather than
"prescriptive"?
Is the Academy of the Hebrew Language (I'm not sure what the exact name is)
somehow involved in this?

Thank you.

P.S. I'm currently looking for a new job involving cataloging and/or authority
control in the Greater NYC area. Please send me any leads. Thank you.
