Dear colleagues,

In September 2007 I put forward a suggestion to add more resources for Hebraica
cataloguers on Library of Congress' "Cataloger's Desktop".

I am happy to report that the following links have now been added:
Bibliography of the Hebrew Book (Institute of Hebrew Bibliography)
Heb-NACO (Ohio State University) *[mail archive]*
Hebraica Team (Yale University)
Hebrew Cataloguing FAQ (Princeton)
Hebrew Date Calculator (Yale University)
Jewish Encyclopedia
JewishGen Communities Database
NACO Hebraica Funnel
Parashot (Congregation B'nei HaMelech)
RESHET: Hebraica and Judaica Research Gateway Yiddish transliteration (ibiblio.org) *[YIVO Yiddish]*

Best,

Silke Schaeper (St John's College, Oxford)

Dear Silke:

You're probably falling out of your chair with surprise that I'm just now
getting back to you on your September 12th email. We would have liked to work
on this project sooner, but it took over four months to push the contract
through LC's bureaucracy to be able to pay our Cataloger's Desktop contractor
for this fiscal year.

Given the nature of the resources on your list we felt that it was most
effective to include and link to the resources (as opposed to indexing their
contents). Their titles are indexed, though that may be of limited usefulness.

I expect that the next generation of Cataloger's Desktop will allow us to
more fully integrate non-Roman alphabet and database-driven cataloging
resources into the product. In the meantime, these excellent resources are now
available through the Cataloger's Desktop interface, which should make them
more immediately available for those who need them.

Thank you very much for making this suggestion.

Best wishes,

Bruce

Dear Bruce,

I am attaching a document with links to sites that I find useful in Hebraica
cataloguing.
