Hi, all, I believe I can help with the particular puzzle. Using the Connexion Client, the default setting for displaying (andprinting) records with Arabic or Hebrew script is aligned to the right.
To toggle between displaying these scripts right-to-left orleft-to-right there are two options:
=========== Click View > Align Right, or press <Alt><V><I>. Default: Data aligns to the right for display and printing. Or Toggle data alignment in the current field: Right-click a field, and on the pop-up menu, click Right-to-Left Reading Order. =========== (more information is available searching the Help topic: Align Arabic or Hebrew script data for display and print) The difference between using the View menu and the right mouse menu, is that the right-click menu is session and field specific. So the 'display change' using the right-click menu does not stay with therecord between editing sessions.
To enable the 670 in this record to display left-to-right between edit sessions, go to the View menu and set the Align Right menu item to 'off'. That change impacts the entire record, and it can't be set to only change the display of fields containing a mixture of script/non-script characters. --Becky Dean OCLC6565 Kilgour Place Dublin, OH 43017

But when we re-opened it, the field had reverted back to right-to-left reading order. Puzzling. --Rick From: Program for Cooperative Cataloging [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Joyce E. You can make the 670 display "properly" in OCLC by changing the directionality of that particular field. One way to do this is to right-click in the field, then choose Right-to-Left Reading Order to remove the check mark. The field will switch so that the title appears first. ...and I'm tickled pink that your example is one of our first script records! The portion of the $b in parenthesis that contains the Arabic script jumps to the far left of the field in front of what would be the start of $a (i.e., the field switches to right-to-left reading order when he inputsArabic characters).
If the record is printed, it looks fine, as does the public display. It seems that only the display in OCLC looks a bit funny. For example, see the record for: Khatir, Jurj Anis (no2008101559). The 670 looks a bit odd in OCLC, but displays fine if you view it in the LC online authorities, or if you print the record. Is it something specific to OCLC, or is there something on our end that we need to do to correct thedisplay?
