 Fresh fighting of Chechen mujahideen

 The Chechen commander Dokku Umarov informed, in
a radio communication of the radio station
«Kavkaz», which resumed its broadcasting after
one-and-a-half monthly break, about the clash of
one of the mobile divisions of mujahideen with
gangs of the Russian occupational forces, in the
area of Horsenoy settlement. According to Dokku
Umarov, at least 13 invaders were killed in the
fight. Two mujahideen martyred from the Chechen
side.

In the regional center of Vedeno, a special
division of mujahideen attacked a command base
and checkpoint of the aggressors. Fight took
place on Monday evening. According to the Chechen
side, five aggressors were killed and not less
than ten wounded during the fight. Another
aggressor was killed at the exit from
Dyshne-Vedeno settlement. At the same time, the
Russian sources assert, that three Russian
soldiers were killed and seven wounded in the
fight. The Russian occupational command has
claimed big losses of mujahideen in
Achkhoi-Martan and Shatoi districts of the
country. The Chechen command denies these
statements.

Fight near Khankala. Russian helicopter MI-8
brought down

The commands headquarter of Chechen mujahideen
informs about severe clashes with the aggressors
on Monday. So in the vicinity of Khankala in the
way of a military convoy of the invaders which
consisted of three cargo vehicles Ural and two
armored troop-carriers for covering, mujahideen
detonated one land mine and two anti-personal
mines ÌÎN-100 of the directed action. Later on
firing was opened on the convoy from the
automatic weapons. As a result of the attack,
mujahideen killed not less than 11 invaders on
the spot and wounded about 20 soldiers. One Ural
vehicle was burnt up. The front armored
troop-carrier was disabled. Mujahideen continued
to fire at the opponents for almost 20 minutes.
And reinforcement began to act from Khankala to
the battle zone only after half hour in spite of
the fact that the occupational headquarter was
directly visible from there.

Another convoy of the aggressors was attacked on
the road between Serzhen-Yurt and Tsa-Vedeno
villages. In the front of the convoy were an
armored troop-carrier and two vehicles with
fighters of the national-traitor Yamadayev, who
served as alive covering of the invaders. The
Chechen command informs that heavy firing from
machine-guns and grenade-guns was opened on the
convoy and continued almost 40 minutes. According
to the information of mujahideen, at least 9
invaders and national-traitors were killed on the
spot. Two vehicles were burnt up and an armored
troop-carrier of the invaders was struck.

A mobile antiaircraft group of the Chechen
fighters hunted since three days for the
helicopter MI-8 in the area of village
Iliskhan-Yurt of the Gudermess region of
Ichkeria. On Monday afternoon, the helicopter was
brought down with the help of large-calibre
machine-guns. Chechen mujahideen inform that the
damaged copter made an emergency landing at a
distance of 3km from Tsatsan-Yurt.

One more clash on Monday took place near
Kotar-Yurt village of Achkhoi-Martan district of
CRI. As the commander of special division of the
Ingush mujahideen «Hamza» from the Islamic
regiment of the special task force, amir Hamzat
informed that his fighters arranged an ambush in
the way of the reconnaissance group of the
invaders. As a result of the fight, three
aggressors were killed on the spot and five
invaders wounded. Mujahideen got weapons in booty
and left for their base without suffering any
losses.

On contrary, occupational command declared, that
mujahideen lost 20 fighters during that day. The
Chechen side categorically denied this report,
while calling it a propaganda attempt to hide the
real massacre of innocent inhabitants in
Chechen-Aul, where the bloody retaliatory actions
against peaceful Chechen inhabitants are still
proceeding. According to Chechen sources, already
10 local residents, including two 15-years old
children were killed and about 100 persons were
taken as hostages during retaliatory operation in
this village. So far not less than 10 peaceful
inhabitants were killed in the area of Kurchaloi
village as a result of chaotic shooting on the
vehicles in the passing military convoy of the
invaders. Later the Russian Mass-Media declared,
that a fierce clash allegedly took place near
Kurchaloi.

40 thousand deserters per annum from the Russian
army

Severe punishments, mockeries, quite often
tortures, extortion are the main reasons of the
self-willed abandon of the military service by
military men, as reported by Union of committees
of the soldiers’ mothers of Russia.

«From among the 900 military men, who addressed
to the Moscow branch of the Union of committees
of the soldiers’ mothers, 150 persons complained
about whipping, 12 persons about tortures, and 20
persons about extortion», - informs «Interfax»
referring to a responsible secretary of the union
of Valentine Melnikova while speaking at a press
conference on Tuesday in Moscow.

According to this source, more than one thousand
persons have addressed with complaints to the
Moscow branch of the union in year 2001. The
members of the Union of committees of soldiers’
mothers consider, that up to 40 thousand military
men in the entire country annually leave their
units according to their own free will.

Let's remind, that some armed soldiers ran away
during the last week from the Russian army as
they do in routine. They prefer to be killed in
the fight with the pursuers as it took place
yesterday in Adigee than to return back to the
barracks. The latest large-scale runaway of the
soldiers has happened on the eve in South
Ossetia. Seven sergeants and mercenary soldiers
escaped with their weapons.
